He was talking about airsoft conversion kits, not real steel.
There are a couple thousand of the airsoft kits IIRC.
Expect to pay $700+ for one if you want one.

Sup /a/.

Looking at getting one of these, however I'm not certain if the side-flip AK74M stock can actually be removed or if the hinges visible in this picture indicate that the whole body would have to be changed or not?

Basically I'm planning on getting one of those M4 stock tubes to have my way with a different stock, but it would be a bit of a bummer if the damn stock can't be changed.
No. 10441 ID: b31e67
it can be taken off, but it doesnt take stock tangs like the buffertube adaptor you described has

TL:DR, it wont work

What's the most cost effective way to do it?
I just wanna paint the receiver black, like darkest black possible.
And add decals such as the fire selector positions on the HK416 or Magpul. Or even make it look like the Vltor receiver.
Can this be done?

Template spraying is possible. You will need some thin plastic, an X-Acto knife, a shit ton of tape, and some of that sticky 3m wall-gum stuff you use to stick shit to posters so that you can be certain your template is as close to the metal as possible

it's not easy, you will want to practice on other irregular shapes before attacking your gun. I recommend plastic cups and stick deoderant containers.

I used to do screen printing and airbrushing, BTW. It should be OK as long as you take the painting as 100% seriously as if you were taking your gun apart and touching all the metal parts with your fingers.

Hi guys. I've known about airsoft for a long time, but heard it badmouthed by paintball players (though I've never been interested in paintball). I didn't actually realize how cool the guns were or that people actually dressed up in full BDU to play. There's a field near me and I think I want to try it out.

Can you help me find my first guns? I would like recommendations on what to buy and from where, if you don't mind.

The most important thing to me is that I have fun. I don't want to get a crappy gun, or one that won't be effective. Price matters a little bit, but I want to do this correctly and can spend a little bit to get the right weapon.

I need a primary rifle and a sidearm and have *no* idea what to even look at, despite googling and reading forums all day. I prefer plain-looking rifles without tons of "tacticool" attachments. The sl8 in the other thread up here looks good to me, but the most important thing again is to get a fun, effective first Airsoft gun for the field.

I don't have a preference for a sidearm and think any handgun or whatever works would be fine.

This is the terrain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1HHL0oBF94

All advice is welcome! Thanks for the help, /a/

I think you must get away with it because they're lower profile or something. Do they fog if you don't apply the anti-fog stuff you mentioned?

I run goggles like these, since I wear glasses. I just went to the opticians today though to talk about contacts. Hopefully I'll be spectacle free for airsoft by the end of the week.

I run goggles like these. I've bought several and now I'm on a yellow pair.

I can honestly say that I've never had a single fog-related issue with them. I can run around all day get all hot and bothered and they Just Don't Fog Up. Ever.

As for protection, I spent a good hour or so blasting an old pair held down by a brick and while they make a fairly loud whack, they do not dent under the force of a 400 FPS chinaclone gun at point blank. Full-auto didn't even phase them. Not tested it any higher, but hey, I'm a brit airsofter, our limit is 325 + 5% leeway.

OK, so they're not Oakleys, but they're cheap, they work and they are good if you wear glasses.

The problem with mesh goggles is that cheap BBs might shatter against them, which won't protect you from the shards. Rare, but so is getting shot in the eye. Heck, I saw one case wehre a guy was still shot in the eye when the BB at just the right angle sneaked past the full seal he was wearing. Anyway, that's the reason why some fields don't allow mesh goggles.

So I was at Sports Authority buying some more C02 for my TF11.

This guy and his 16 year old wigger son were looking at a re branded G&G Combat Machine and the dad was saying "This is a peice of crap, 350 feet per second won't get you any range on this, you probably couldn't even shoot 20 feet with this thing."
And he keeps going on about how these guns are shit because of the low FPS compared to a pellet rifle and how you can't even hit the broad side of a barn with one.

this guy pissed me off so muck that I was about to whack him in the face with a camping chair.

Tell me your airsoft rage stories.

I shoot about 330, and it's always been perfect for me. Gets me a closer minimum engagement distance while retaining an effective time-on-target, and my accuracy is alright. I probably ought to fine-tune the hopup and clean my barrel after every game to make sure dust and crap doesn't accumulate and mess with accuracy, but it's good enough right now. As for RAEG stories...

Not a whole lot of them, but we do have one asshole at our local field who takes it upon himself to "help" the staff by shooting people, on his team, in the back if they don't move forward. Idiotic man, I've heard horror stories about him. Only other real rage story I've got is another imitation staffer who thinks it's alright to happy-walk up the field, mag out, gun slung, pistol holstered, hands up, and then bitch about getting shot.
No. 10427 ID: 12569c
When TM released the L96 last year, and about 70% of the people on the field got one and were using it for about a month after it came out. If it were old school bolt action war, that would be nice, but no, everyone wanted to be a sniper. Most boring month of airsoft ever.

So, /a/ I have a place where I like to play airsoft. Problem is the most we could ever put together are 3x3 games. I was wondering if anyone in MD (Specifically near BWI area)would be willing to come by and have a game?
Our rifles range from 350-600FPS and of course eye protection and blah blah blah required. We normally have games on Sunday since that's when we all happen to have our days off. If anyone is willing to come by, I'll leave my email in my next post. If not, this post is off to page 10.

Pic unrelated

well a good thing for Sniper's where we play is that we have large grass fields and if you're Sniping from one end to the other side the heat of the day coming off the grass will make the sound of the shot travel up and no one know your there. you could try doing that works for us.
No. 10420 ID: 12569c

Accuracy basically and range. A spring rifle will deliver more consistent airflow for single shot placement than an AEG. You can modify an AEG to do the same, but it will get torn apart under full auto. You can get quite a lot of range out of a sub 350 fps gun if you modify it and put in quality hop-up and barrel. Case in point, the Marui M14 is around 300 fps yet outranges most other 300-350 fps AEGs due to the hop-up design.

But TL;DR? There really isn't much of a point in many cases. Just personal preference. But over 450 FPS in an AEG is really pushing the dynamics of the BB itself, as well as undue stress on a gearbox.
No. 10425 ID: f64ff6
ok let's just throw the whole fps thing out the window. come by, see what we are talking about shoot someone and the most important have some fun doing it.

Fun fact: Most of the extra cost for TM isn't higher quality internals or quality control- it's a bunch of magic Japanese anime fairies that are tucked away in the gearbox. I guess those fairies flew the gun into your house directly. Lucky bastard.

Ah, I like em', fell in love with em' early on, and I really have noticed the quality, although I can get how people feel that way.
Although if I need another gun I'll definitely get something else, I can't take hits like a TM every time, even if I do love them.
