Is anyone interested in a new travelling box?

Stipulations:
Post 'I want it' with an email to get added to the master list.
Each member is allowed the box for one week.
You can only get the box once a month (IE, three people must seperate your claims of dibs).
Buy in is shipping. Don't be an idiot.

ALSO,
If there's a lot of interest, anyone wanna donate 1-2 dollars on paypal to add to my ~20 budget for the box?

No idea, I'm assuming bushwacker would know.
I didn't pay any attention to that.

I'd assume someone contacted bushwacker and sent it back to him. Atleast that'd be the decent thing to do.

I have the box. The old board crash happened the same time I had the box, so I decided to hold onto it. It's sitting next to my computer stand.

retro - get at me, I'll send you the contents of the box (I'll go with a USPS medium box, and skim out the less than worth-while stuff to make it all fit. You can add it to the new box.

If you haven't already noticed, I'm not around much on here anymore. Tons of work and whatnot. It may take me a day or two to respond back

I'd love to be put on the list, but since I'm moving in 2 weeks, would need to be placed a little lower on the list.

It's that one box, you know, the one that travels from OPERATOR to OPERATOR, the one where people put things they don't want into it, and take out things they do want?

>>18925
If your down Gretchen, I'd gladly volunteer to get the box after you, I'm planning to visit the Seattle area once I'm moved in anyways to check it out, could just pick it up from you (and get beer together) if that's ok.

I'm sorta homeless because I'm moving from one apartment to a house. The house I'm moving into doesn't have a mailbox, it's got HALF the mailbox. I dunno how mail gets delivered there.

I'm not *really* homeless, just awkwardly between leases.

Once again, this is why I love this place.

US postal require you to have a working mail box or they just hold your mail for 1 week. I learn this when some kid knock my mail box down and I decided to dig a bigger hold and pour concrete down to secure it down. So the mail box was laying on the front lawn facing outward the mail lady will not deliver until I erect the mail box.

Packages if is UPS or FedEx they probably will put it next to the front door.

I'm going to try and whip up some kydex mag pouches for some USGI M4 mags and some Pmags in the next few days since I've been meaning to make a tutorial on them for the youtube page anyways, so I'll try to make a few to throw in the box too. I don't have any extra belt loops or mounting hardware though, but anyone who wants them can always paracord them to rigs or buy some belt loops or molle clips online.

Tried to make a kydex mag pouch today, got about halfway through, then something weird happened: My throat started to swell up, and one of my eyes got very swollen....fucking allergic reaction...I doubt it was the kydex (since I've worked with kydex a bunch and never had a problem), but at the same time it's literally the only thing I can think of that I touched or was around the entire day that could have done it.

Then again it was a different brand than I stuff I had ordered in the past...I'll try to finish it tomorrow, hopefully won't get the same reaction...

One note for everyone, since it looks like it was agreed to do a smaller box size than before, let's try to only throw things in there that you know, people will want.

Not going to ruin the surprise, but there's one item in there which is funny and pretty creepy...but takes up a chunk of space...and is totally non-OPERATOR related.

Just to free up more space to put some of my stuff in I even took out the scented candle...I feel like I just got my man card revoked, but it was for a good cause...to squeeze in more OPERATOR stuff...

Got the box... was hoping for a pound or so of molybdenum.

Molybdenum is a Group 6 chemical element with the symbol Mo and atomic number 42.
Molybdenum, ebeam remelted macro crystalline fragment. Purity 99.99 % (= "4N"), as well as a high purity single crystalline (99.999 % = 5N) 1 cm3 molybdenum cube for comparison.

The ability of molybdenum to withstand extreme temperatures without significantly expanding or softening makes it useful in applications that involve intense heat, including the manufacture of armor, aircraft parts, electrical contacts, industrial motors and filaments.

Most high-strength steel alloys (example 41xx steels) contain 0.25% to 8% molybdenum. Despite such small portions, more than 43,000 tonnes of molybdenum are used as an alloying agent each year in stainless steels, tool steels, cast irons and high-temperature superalloys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molybdenum

Idea for Travelling Box: USB Thumb Drive of pictures.
Save your weapons-related pictures to a thumb drive or an external memory drive, place it in the box, send it on its way. The next person to get the box saves whatever he wants from the drive, adds his own pictures, and sends it to the next Operator on the list. I'm sending stuff to Captain Chairsoft. Am currently waiting on some stuff.

Or make this a separate thing. I send a duplicate USB flash drive in a bubble-wrap envelope to the first Operator on this list (Bushwacker), the recipients save what they want, add what they want, and send to the next one:

True, but you are missing the point. It's all about the surprise. What's on the thumb drive? What will you add?

Besides, there may be other means of gaining operator e-material, but you can have 32 gigs of it at your finger tips, ready to transfer from a semi-reliable source, instead of downloading god-knows-what from a torrent.

Pretty much this. Last thing I want is to download 32 gig of what should be approved OPERATOR data (I want manuals, schematics, listings of edible plants, etc) and getting some anon's survival guide that's hopelessly retarded.

Especially if I'll only pull out 3 gb of it. It's faster and easier to wait for the thumb drive. It'll certainly take less time out of my day, and I can trust it to not contain CP or a virus.

No, a Schrödinger's Cat box can't fit in a standard USPS flat rate box without the use of expensive dimension-altering equipment.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOYyCHGWJq4

Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. It illustrates what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics applied to everyday objects, resulting in a contradiction with common sense. The scenario presents a cat that might be alive or dead, depending on an earlier random event. Although the original "experiment" was imaginary, similar principles have been researched and used in practical applications. The thought experiment is also often featured in theoretical discussions of the interpretations of quantum mechanics. In the course of developing this experiment, Schrödinger coined the term Verschränkung (entanglement).

Schrödinger's Cat: A cat, a flask of poison and a radioactive source are placed in a sealed box. If an internal monitor detects radioactivity (i.e. a single atom decaying), the flask is shattered, releasing the poison that kills the cat. There is a supposed fifty-percent chance of this happening. The Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics implies that after a while, the cat is simultaneously alive and dead. Yet, when we look in the box, we see the cat either alive or dead, not both alive and dead. This poses the question of when exactly superposition ends and reality collapses into one possibility or the other. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger's_cat

9377
The quantum-mechanical "Schrödinger's cat" paradox according to the many-worlds interpretation. In this interpretation, every event is a branch point. The cat is both alive and dead—regardless of whether the box is opened—but the "alive" and "dead" cats are in different branches of the universe that are equally real but cannot interact with each other.
>> No. 9378 ID: e28a05
>>41528
That's kind of weird. It's not that it's alive and dead, it's one or the other but we have no way of knowing, so with absolutely even odds, 50/50, we can't guess which one it could be with any more accuracy than if we guessed the other. The only way to be right is to assume both outcomes are right until one of them is eliminated.

Or maybe I'm just thinking like a fucking idiot here.
>> No. 9379 ID: d6f745
  >>41533
Intuitively what you said makes sense. However, quantum mechanics is decidedly un-intuitive and the as best as we have been able to determine, the cat *is* both alive and dead until an "observer" (more on that later) collapse the probability distribution into a single outcome

This leads to some SERIOUSLY weird shit. Vid related. Also check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_entanglement and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_eraser_experiment if you want your mind bent

Related note...

Large flatrate box is really getting too fucking small for this, especially with the pile of large/useless/awkwardly shaped items in the box. It needs to be either a larger box (which I tried to find a suitable alternative but couldn't find anything that would keep the price down for everyone) OR it needs to be purged at some point of crap and rebuilt with more awesome stuff.

I added what I hope will be considered some awesome goodies, as well as passing along some of Bat Guano's generosity.

It's large flat rate. Parcel post takes forever, and is more likely to get raped in the process, and no tracking.

Regular box priority mail is just as fast and sometimes cheaper, but only if the box is light.

USPS works like this: If every dimension is less than 12 inches (current box is 12x12x5.5), only weight is taken into account. If it's under 5 pounds, it's cheap as balls, and typically less than flat rate.
If it's more than 5, it adds up quick. In fact, looking at it, if it's more than 4 pounds, it's worthless for Priority (your own box). Standard post (parcel) is a bit better... but only by 4 measly bucks. 4 bucks more and you get faster shipping and USPS-brand "tracking". (at least delivery confirmation)
At 8 pounds, Standard Post flies past the flat rate box. 8 pounds is about a gallon of water.

therefore, the answer is no. People are, ultimately, fags and bitch about 17-fucking-dollars when they signed up for this process.
Sorry to those of which that 17 bucks is a legitimate concern, but I've dealt with too many people wheeling-and-dealing with rather expensive hobbies bitch about sub-$20 shipping costs...

Awesome.
>> No. 9450 ID: 09e6cc
Alright people learn from my mistake, I tried to put it all in a larger box so I could fit more stuff and make it more awesome but when I took it to the post office I was told it would be $56, it weighed just under 20 pounds and wasn't much larger than the large flat rate but still, thats a lot.
So stick to the large flat rate, the box is stuffed right now so I urge people to take some of that big cool stuff out and add smaller cool stuff, oh and a large flat rate costs $15, the box currently weighs in at 16 pounds.

Yeah I'm in contact with him. Since he's already had it and isn't in a hurry, I was thinking I'd hold onto it until next weekend when I'm going shooting with StickShift and Blackjack. It would be good to turn over things in there a little more and get some fresh shit.

Going out tomorrow. I have 13 packages in a lot being picked up, the box is one of them. It is in a bigger box than the USPS flat rate, so eliminate some of the bigger items before sending it on.

And I owe everyone a beer.

Goobs,

Tracking number: 9114901159818177270047 or 1000302551873, not sure which of these damn long numbers it is. Moved everything back into the flat rate box and deleted a few larger items.

Expected Delivery: Sat 8/31/13

its on its way.

Buh, buh, mah OPSEC

I personally don't care all that much, but I do kinda like that only 2 people know my address from the list- the person in front and behind of me. I guess, if there was a way so that only one trusted person had access to everyone's address and could optimize the routes?

Posting my email for The Spetsnazdude.
>> No. 9577 ID: 9833d6
kind of a moot point, its in a flat rate box so shipping is same for everybody (sounds like socialism for some reason). and flat rates are express and only take a few days to go coast to coast. so you guys are kind of over analyzing the situation

The box has been MIA for 158 days, at this point it is safe to assume the box is KIA or POW.

I suggest the next person in the list get a small flat rate box and stuff in whatever he wanted to ship and get it shipped out.

So RED, just get a small, cheap, flatrate box and put what you want in it, email senseless and be sure he is still on-board before shipping it, if he does not email you back within a week then skip him and go to the next guy, this should be common practice from now on so that the box has a good chance of continued motion.

Only up the size of the box when it is needed, flat rates come in many sizes so lets utilize that to keep costs down.

I also vote that TheSpetsnazdude be permabanned for his crimes against humanity.

On a side note, I was going to search his ID to see when he last posted by I now see that his ID changed with every post. Wonder why that is?

The rules I set up dictate that you have one week to respond, if you don't respond you are skipped. I think that is pretty fair don't you guys?

Red, have you emailed Senseless? If so then has it been a week since said email was sent? If so then get the box to Zutro or whatever your name is, I'm not scrolling down to look.

If you don't have Senseless's email address then consider him skipped, I know its been a while since the box has moved but we have been trying to get it sent out for well over a week now, if he is browsing /t/ he should have seen the thread moving. Perhaps in cases like this the person who is skipped can cut in line later on but for now lets get the ball(or box) rolling, treat it as a hot potato, aim to get it out within 3 days of obtaining it.

No, it hasn't been a week. Sorry, I got distracted being out of town for most of the week, and neglected to email him until recently. In the meantime, I am adding more potentially useful shit to hopefully fill up a medium flat rate just so I can fit what I was originally intending to send.

I send a duplicate USB flash drive in a bubble-wrap envelope to the first Operator on this list (Bushwacker), the recipients save what they want, add what they want, and send to the next one: Bushwacker

My heart is filled with hatred and discontent as I write these words. Our man R-E-D shipped second day, that means I should've got it last Wednesday at the latest. USPS says they'll get it to me by Friday... You know, two days ago?

I was ecstatic and eager to open my happy Christmas box and spread the joy, love, death, and hellfire of OpChan. But, no. I have to go leave the country on Tuesday. Back on 11 Jan, Box will ship no later than 15 Jan [Unless there's something so awesome in the box I have to send out for cool shit to replace it with].

anything in particular you guys want? We got a box of random goodies from brownells at school, mostly some holsters for moder polymer pistols, and some weird random shit I didn't really get a look at.

arrived today, will get it out next week at the latest. I think I will use a new box, all the duct tape is making this one look like a drug shipment.

mr KKK cant access opchan on his phone atm and wanted me to relay that there will be a one week delay to allow for additional swag mentioned above. 27th is the ship date he gave me

27th of this month?
Alright, well, at least its moving again...
looks like I'm up in 2... haha
>> No. 9799 ID: 99bbd8
Hey guys my phone is working currently hooray. If it's cool with you all about the delay I know it should be worthwhile. I have to pay 50 bucks to get about 120+ worth of goodies. I know I'm guaranteed a least a set of 870 furniture and a holster. There are 3 boxes about 2x3 foot full of swag as well as a fukehuge box from remington. I'm allowed 2 boxes to buy so I can get even more. Also if it's in the best interest I'll be upgrading the opchan box to fit this shit. I tried to vote for the mystery drawing to be held this coming Thursday but got overruled. Hope this is alright with whoever is behind me and I hope I can bitching enough at the power company to have them fix my cut Internet lines so I can stay on top of this.

I'll allow it, last time I got the box it actually didn't have much in it, It'd be neat as fuck if it actually had stuff I need this time. Now I just need to gather up a few things to throw in it, luckily I come from a family of gun owners so we have all kinds of old parts and mags around to give away.
>> No. 9801 ID: b7f115
okiedoke. As soon as I get the stuff I'll inventory it and get the list to you guys and you can pick whatcha want and I'll throw in a bunch of other shit.

Curse of the box is real. Was going to send it out last week but had to tend to family medical issues and never got around to it, this week I've not been able to get there while the place is open. Tomorrow I will be in town and should have time to drop it off though, I've got the label ready and everything.

The box has no curse, I had to box for a week that's because Buckeye didn't want it and I had to get serv's address.

Only curse it could have was in that condom and someone already wrap it around their ding-a-lang

Alright I got it sorted, I sat on it for a while because of family medical issues but then I decided to hold it a week longer so I could go to Georgia and grab a few goodies to revamp it a little.

Getting a flat rate to fit it all into today as it was already pretty tight in the old box, scheduled pickup for tomorrow.

My bad though, I have had it for an unreasonably long time, like life was all good until the box got here then my mom was in the hospital then my little brother, shit, fuck this box man.

Should I feel reasonably upset with this? The box was to my knowledge in my possession last before it went to nathe, and so he still has the box. Was there ever an update of that afterward? Did it get shipped out by him? Where the fuck is the godamn box?

I've literally completed a college program, moved three states away, and been working at a job since last july and there hasn't been really a single update on this shit show. What the actual fuck
