Anyone know where I can find one for cheaper than $100? If I can just get the shell, that would be even better. The vast majority of helmets being sold on Ebay are thrashed and the sellers expect $150+ for a full set. There have to be piles of these things kicking around, right? I remember when I was younger, the surplus stores had shelves of them for $30. A nudge in the right direction would be highly appreciated.

Can't give you a solid answer. I have a pair of shotgunners, which are walmart trash, and they have a different mount, however, I believe most of their professional grade and construction grade earpro have similar, if not identical mounts

By chance, did you work for the Comcam at Group TWO?

I knew a couple guys there that called each other "duder" and one guy had that patch.

So here are the pads. They might look out of place but I tested them before putting the velcro in (as in placing them in the shell and putting my head in downwards to see if it worked) and yes it worked with the rear pads supporting the rear of my skull.

But there was no provided solution to making the battery pullout card water resistant so I just put it in a ziplock baggie.

More pics of various configurations I've thought up for my converted CVC helmet coming soon.

So I striped it down and it weighs 2.6Lbs, versus 4.4Lbs when compared to the weight of my PASGT helmet with a cover on.

There's always the tried and true "cinch a scrim laundry bag on it" method, too.

Can also be pulled down further to cover your face when the bugs get really bad...

A tad late to the party, but here's my CVC project. I found a kevlar CVC shell for a ridiculously low price of 10€, bought a Skydex pad&strap kit and a rhino plate&arm. Still have to do some sanding and paint it. I'm still unsure whether I want/need velcro or rails for it, but as it is, it's a dirt cheap functioning kevlar helmet.

Forgot all about this thread, I wound up scoring six STANAG magazines, and a large DH132B for 50 BUCKS at a garage sale!! Going to re-paint the brain bucket for journalism use (blue/media markings). Does anyone make a camo or neutral helmet cover for CVC helmets? I'd like to go back to earthen colors if I need to down the road.

Only if the art is good.
This is a fancy painted helmet from the US Allied Expeditionary Force 96th Aero Squadron captured and painted during World War I.
St Mihiel, Verdun, and Chateau Thierry campaigns are indicated by name. Kaiser Wilhelm is on the front and the US flag is on the top. The squadron emblem of the 96th Aero Squadron is visible on the left side. http://www.snyderstreasures.com/pages/helmets.htm

British crewman helmet
I believe this is an off the shelf version of one of the NP Aerospace ac helmets but not sure of the exact designation ,profile wise it is not dissimilar to the mk7 or ac 900 inside the rear foam padding has this b2 stiching. http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/ballistic-composite-helmets/british-crewman-helmet-412465/
