Ahem.... Where's your photo?

This depends entirely what you mean by Serious. I'm not a high-speed-low-drag operator. I shoot for fun. One of my fun runs is a monthly carbine match I was recently introduced to. It's not run by any national organization. It isn't USPSA. It's Randy's (the match director) version of the world, once a month.
The general rules stay the same, but the specifics can get moved around quite a bit. He has a very specific outlook on the world... very tactical. I'm a USPSA gunner at heart. I want to run fast and pull the trigger - fuck finding cover and retaining my reloads.
The people who actually show up at this competition run the gamut from middle-aged computer nerd ( http://www.operatorchan.org/k/src/133931422860.jpg ), to Airsoft Tacticard ( http://www.operatorchan.org/k/src/133937469232.jpg ), to Sergeant Major ( http://www.operatorchan.org/k/src/133931329343.jpg ). And yes... he seems legit. And he wears Sergeant Major insignias.
I ran the match last time with 2 spare mags stuffed in the back pockets of my jeans. There's not a whole lot of running involved... certainly not more than 100ys under actual time. Remember I mentioned "Randy's Rules"? He's pissed about blackhawk down. So pissed that he wants us to retain magazines. That's his cited reason, anyway. My back pockets are not conducive to retaining my magazines.
I went out and found a basic platform that I could mount a few mags (only gonna pack 3, not 6), and a dump pouch (yay retention) on. As a plus, it puts my reloads about where I expect them from USPSA. A little lower, but I've got that buckle cinched up tighter than in the photo. I've run around in it a bit... it's more comfortable than some vests I've used.
Am I entirely serious? No. I don't thing anyone could mount a machete like that, and be entirely serious. I enjoy tweaking people who take these games too seriously, see? Randy has a thing with knives. I've been warned he will occasionally set a stage where you must "fight your way to your gun" using only the knife on your gear. He starts many matches with a knife check, making sure people are carrying. People have these $$$$$ Benchmade Fixed Blades, and Gerber FLM-IIs, and other huge pieces of expensive steel strapped to their $$$ super-tac molle vests... Well, fuck that. I have a $5 machete and some mags on a leg platform. And I still have a damned good time. So, no. I'm not serious about it. But yes, I AM serious about it. See?
