In the end, >>96899 didn't just get different furniture, but a new barrel as well (the 20" is still around, since buying a shorter barrel is legally much easier than shortening an existing barrel*). I also got me a nice nickel 9mm P220 from 1984.

*Buying a barrel of any length (no SBR laws here) requires a regular WES (gun permit), while shortening a barrel requires an exceptional permit (more expensive and harder to get than a WES).

This CZ i just acquired here is the only gun i've bought in almost a 3 year span. Glad i could find it since alot of gun stores in my area don't seem to carry any CZ's at all. It's nice to have something a little more modern than a Colt 1903 at any rate.

Do you mean ambi fire control? Did you get your through Stag Arms? My order is still waiting to be fulfilled.

Just picked up a used Chiappa Rhino 200DS for $575.
I was drying it with snapcaps and I wasn't able to use single action, but after a few more double action dry fires, I was able to use single action. Weird.

I bought that same Rhino model years ago before they switched to using the fiber optic front sight; it had the same issue. I also hated the trigger pull so I traded it for a Ruger Mk.III.

It's a damn shame because that underbarrel managed recoil was a blast to handle.

Yesterday I went to a local gun store and got lucky. They've been taking in a lot of assorted .22 pistols in on trade lately, from people who want the new Ruger Mk IV. I got it for $330 and tax, with two mags.

Among them was this stainless Mk III Hunter, which the prior owner had set up with Kensight aftermarket target sights, plus what feels like at least a little bit of fluff and buff on the hammer and sear and possibly also disconnector to smooth out the trigger release. It's still heavy, I'd say 5+ pounds, and it's still got a lot of takeup, overtravel, and a longer reset than I'd like, but it breaks crisply, without creep. I am thinking very hard about getting a Volquartsen hammer, sear, and adjustable target trigger for it.

Even with the heavy trigger, it shoots like a laser and makes me look like I'm a much better shot than I actually really am. It may be the long heavy barrel damping down motion, it may be the decent trigger, but I'm getting fewer fliers than I am with other .22 handguns and the fliers I do get are not going so far. Maybe a better trigger will improve things further.

Not everything is perfect. I shot 200 rounds with it today and got one smokestack (Remington "Golden Bullet" solids), one dud (Winchester "Super Speed"), and one split case head that blew out the little plastic tab of the loaded chamber indicator (also Winchester) but did not otherwise damage the pistol, according to the gunsmith on staff. I guess I'll just pull out the remnants of the loaded chamber indicator--I've read that they can cause feeding problems anyway in this design--and keep on trucking. I should not be surprised at problems with Winchester .22 ammo, I've had nothing but trouble with it for years, but .22 LR ammo availability around here is still sufficiently spotty that you can't be super-picky if you want to go out and shoot.

Picked up one of the Yugo tokarevs from the fun store yesterday. Haven't owned one before, but I'm digging how it's a Bizarro-world 1911.

Haven't fired it yet but seems mechanically sound. Mine wasn't totally encased in cosmoline so it only took an hour (not counting figuring out the detail strip). Not particularly pleased with the artificially-added safety since it seems touchy, but left off it doesn't seem to cause problems. I'll learn more when I get my ammo in and get it out to the range.

That's good to know. I know clips for them are pretty much extinct, so it's cool that there's an alternative.

>That Pre-B has such a gorgeous finish. The grips complement it very well too. Good job 👍

It actually photographs better than it is - you miss out on most of the scratches, scuffs, and minor discolorations in the finish. It looks good from 10 feet away though. I'm still debating whether I want to refinish it and have CGW tweak the trigger, or get a new 75BD and send it to CGW. I much prefer a decocker to a safety, but the round trigger guard is so classy.

Also, the grips are from Exotic Grips by Esmeralda. I wish they had a bit more palm swell and a larger chamfer at the top of grip. They're very pretty and fit well, though, and the checkering is very well done. Here they are on my SP01 Tactical.

Ranch rifle with a 30 rounder. Bought new around Easter of this year. Been too busy with the Army to have even fired it yet and it's currently many miles away from me.

The sling is an FN MAG sling I """liberated""" from the Army after carrying one on a winter exercise (temps dropped to -57) for almost a week. It wasn't on the list of accessories and parts I had to return at the end of the exercise, likely because they forgot to include it, so I kept it. It's a little too big for a Mini 14 but it's tough as hell and has some sentimental value.

Found and bought a Walther semiautomatic shotgun made between 1920 and 1930. It's a toggle locked design chambered for 2-1/2" shells. I probably overpaid, especially for the condition it's in, but you don't see these very often.
