Bans only apply for the board where the person was banned, unless it's spam/cp
Because a blanket ban is easily countered with a proxy, whereas a a board specific ban forces person to think about the value of finding a good proxy or just posting in other boards
It also focuses a persons attention to what they did wrong, so they don't repeat it ad nauseum
tl;dr it's more effective
Meant to say post this in /sug/. Will move.
Short-length exist partly for exactly this, right? Because with a long-term or permaban, they're much more likely to try to evade it so they can post?
We do this on a limited scale for /n/ & /dmz/. I don't immediately see a use to codify this for other boards. Mods are still free to use their own judgement & only ban someone from /m/ for instance.
But in case of stuff like /t/ or /k/ etc? I think if you violate the rules, you get to sit it out for a while on all boards.
Youtube videos are fucked again. I can play them, but once I click on them it just restarts the video and there's no control. OPERATORchan is the only site where this happens.
>We really ought to have an FAQ thread stickied in here.
We have a website FAQ. I'll be adding a section on this issue there this weekend. It needs some maintenance anyway.
As of the latest iteration of Chrome updates, disabling pepperflash doesn't work, or rather, doesn't work as well as it used to.
The only way to view embeds here from Chrome users is to disable pepflash, click the video, select run this time, and then go back to plugins and re-enable pepflash. Whenever I visit, the first thing I do is disable it, but it's annoying because it's not as easy a fix as it used to be.
>As of the latest iteration of Chrome updates,
Which update version specifically?
23.0.1271.97 (Official Build 171054) m
Flash: 126.96.36.199 r31
I am using Safari with the latest version of flash player installed and I have the same problem
Can we get an OPchan wiki going? It'd be nice to have a place where we can have archived information (as articles or image guides) for topics that frequently come up.
We used to have one, I think the admin baleeted it at some point. Also had tripfag lists and stuff. Would you be interested in setting one up?
I cannot into wikipedias.
I think if we do it, we should take a cue from 1d4chan:
>> No egoboos 1d4chan is NOT for pages dedicated to specific browsers of /tg/, namefag or tripfag, regardless of how well-known or liked/disliked they are. The only exception to this is the drawfag page, which may list known drawfags and describe their usual subject matter. Please refrain from qualitative analysis of a given drawfag's talents or personality, as drama will inevitably ensue.
Ok, how does the pic in this thread not violate rule 6?
From the wiki article:
>Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale (RECETTEAR〜アイテム屋さんのはじめ方〜 Rusettia – Aitemu-ya-san no Hajimekata?, Recettear: How to Start an Item Shop) is a role-playing game developed by Japanese dōjin maker EasyGameStation for the Windows operating system.
its not a penis, its a retarded as fuck comic in .gif form about starfox who gets transformed into a penis for a giant lizard. get your facts straight.
>Are you seriously getting your panties in a bundle over the fact that you can't imagehost a fucking penis on OPchan?
what i am getting them in a bundle over is the fact this whole site is turning more into /k/inder and more like 4chan every passing week. time to abandon ship for a while again and hope it gets back on track in a month or to. doubt it will. at least with serv running things, there was consistency.
i hate weeaboo shit with a passion no one else will ever understand, so no, i dont remember shit i dont pay attention to.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out, friendo.
Consistency? I remember times of very lax moderation and very strict moderation. The only 'consistent' thing was knowing that at some point, is trouble connecting.
ADMIN DIRECTIVE: Discussion of Japanese video games (not including dating sims/ VN's, etc.), and images of those games, even if "anime" in nature, are allowed in /vg/, at Mod discretion.
That is all.
Also, locking as question in OP has been clarified and answered, if you would like to discuss how much better OPchan was/is/might be under Us/Serv/The CIA, please feel free to do so in /dmz/.
Can we prevent any more gun control threads? I think we have enough on /n/ and /t/ as is.
No, we can prevent duplicate threads, but it's a symptom of our times that we've got a thread for every facet of the issue, they'll fade away in time, have patience.
Is it possible to have this function implemented?
Sorry if this has been suggested already.
Has been mentioned before.
It's not a bad idea, but the main problem with these requests is that while nice to have, they require more work than we can spare atm.
OPchan has a shortage of codemonkeys willing to work on the site at this time. As such, whatever help we do have is more aimed at necessities than nice-to-haves.
So what isn't shitposting or trolling? Because when I see posts like these:
And they're not even in /n/ it makes me wonder what people can get away with.
in case you didnt realize, there are a different set of rules for tripfags, and for OPERATORS. tripfags get special treatment, even when they admit to trolling. weather the mods think so or not, it does happen.
>Gard admits trolling in that thread
And frankengun already banned her for that.
Hadn't been banned yet when I first posted.
Good to see 'she' got banned. The moment she started with "I always knew you were a dumbass. This just confirms it.", she needed a time-out. Especially since the post was just her insulting him unprovoked. I really don't want this site to end up immature like /v/.
For the love of god, please put
into the archive.
I laughed so fucking hard IRL that my face still hurts as I'm typing this, and I am VERY thankful my shop was empty.
>BEAR SIZE ARGUMENT
I can't inhale anymore, I second this, before I pass out and can't type.
+1 for tiny bears
report the thread with reason "archive plz"
Mind fixing the emebeds? It's all fucked up on Chrome.
enter "chrome://plugins/" in the chrome search bar
you'll see entries for flash plugins.
DISABLE all entries that have the destination (or something similar)
Keep enabled the flash plugin with the destination "C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_11_3_300_271.dll"
I disabled all chrome-based flash plugins and everything is running flawlessly now.
Since a recent automatic update of Chrome, the second Flash Player option was gone. I downloaded the latest version from the Adobe website despite their claim that Chrome included it automatically. And everything works once more.
shit's all fucked up again and disabling pepflash no longer works.
Sucks, this is the only site I have problems with embeds on and there's embeds everywhere here
My issue with embeds is interesting, embeds that start a thread do not load, embeds in replies do load.
Pepperflash is disabled
Just wanted to give a heads up of an (odd) issue.
>Please use a valid Youtube link or video id. If you did then an error occured, feel free to panic.
why is this happening
this video in /m/
I put "ABlNftUembY" in the embed field and got this message.
Try the whole URL. Works for me in /dmz/.
Hmmm, well that worked. I've only ever had to put the character string after "watch?v=" before.
Due to the random idiot popping up now and then with this same issue, could the error screen be amended to have a second message asking if the tard trying to post the video pasted the whole URL into the embed box?
