This kickstarter is continuously being spammed on OPchan and others invoking DADT here.
Reported all of them, figured I'd come here and make a mention of why.
The one in /t/ has been marked as not requiring deletion, so the mods are in on it, too. There is no hope.
This is just bad.
The excess threads were removed, the one that stayed had some discussion in it. Which is all we ask for in /t/. Stop being such a fucking dick. Hide the thread if you don't like it, there's a button for it.
How about appointing a janitor or two to deal with our shitty troll?
Or maybe banning an ISP or IP range that the posts come from.
>Growing a bit of a thicker skin would solve 99% of the reports.
lol you mods delete anything that slightly offends you (probably why activity on this site is so much less than what it used to be), so i guess this growing a bit of a thicker skin instruction is one of those do as i say not as i do kind of things.
When a post is reported & is against the rules, what the fuck else can we do?
His point was you guys just ignore shitposts but delete/ban anyone that disagrees with mods on other boards.
I got banned several times last year by a mod I'm not going to name that was mad I didn't agree with Gary Johnson's dumbass propaganda.
It would help if you'd complain about it when it happened, you know.
"Once upon a time X happened" isn't exactly something we can do something about. Those that do complain tend to be in the wrong themselves 90% of the time so far though. For the remaining 10% we try to take corrective action.
I would've complained but I didn't/don't give a shit. I was just pointing out you seem to have been missing that other guys point.
So I hang out on 420chan on occasion. They have ignore user buttons. Click button on post, all posts with that ID change to a user ignored message. I like this feature.
1. I don't know how difficult it would be to implement.
2. It could make some boards even more of a circlejerk.
Other than that, I think it would be a cool feature.
So, can the mods explain why phil's post in >>/n/92094 get a pass?
>hide phil ossifers stone threads
>ignore phil ossifers stone posts
>do not reply to phil ossifers stone posters
Seems stupid, like burying your head in the sand. It's not like they are screaming into your headset, it's text on a screen.
IDs don't guarantee uniqueness. Nor does it guarantee you that a unique user always has the same ID. Ignoring users based on that seems a bit silly since it's very easy to change your ID in the first place as well.
Dunno. Guess that's fixed now.
He actually contributes on occasion
And he has a different post ID in the /w/ thread, which proves how pointless the censorship idea is
As >>2184 says, just grow a thicker skin, you'll enjoy the board more
Growing a thicker skin doesn't prevent other retards from responding to his trolling and bumping shit content back to the first page.
>#operatorchan :Cannot join channel (operator channel.)
Works fine for everyone else.
Try with a decent client?
it's not like you're missing anything.
It's the channel everyone needed, but no one wants.
And so we idle.
Generally it's only used significantly when #/k/ overflows with idiocy or faggotry. Or both.
The opchan channel used to get decent traffic in the late afternoon/evening US hours but it seems like it died the last 2 months.
Sorry if I'm late to the game, but did the site administrators change the @operatorchan.org e-mail accounts to be redirect-only, or is there still some way we can get to our inbox?
I dunno but mail.operatorchan.org isn't working anymore :(
>or is there still some way we can get to our inbox?
It's always been a gmail mailbox, so you can access it through gmail.com.
Was there some sort of e-mail server wipe a couple of years ago? I converted my @operatorchan.org e-mail to the @gmail.com like Google wanted and it's like I have a new inbox. Were all the e-mail files lost? I'm trying to dig up an old job resume, lol.
>Was there some sort of e-mail server wipe a couple of years ago?
Not during the time I've been in charge at least. Prior to that, I don't know.
Saw my /z uploads are gone quickly.
My apologies to the admins if I was rule breaking
What were they?
Probably the Admins should apologize to US.
She was the best thing about that movie
was The 'Nam comic upload there, they are available now.
-might have been me viewing the cached version or just being reviewed.
>-might have been me viewing the cached version or just being reviewed.
I understand the chicken, but the piglet & severed hand are just too much, you sick bastard.
Clicking a link in the sidebar opens up a new tab.
I'm using chrome.
Is your ctrl key stuck? If you press ctrl it opens all links in a new tab
It's probably doing you a favor, since using the sidebar (frame) causes caching/refresh issues with most browsers. ;)
When I click on an OpChan page or thread, except for /k/ and /v/, it shows the last posted YouTube link in the Embed window. So when I post something, I have to delete this embed link and re-enter my password. What a hassle!
I am using Google Chrome version 31.0.1650.63 m
I have cleared my cache, history, browsing data, even registry problems, and still this problem persists!
Except for the /k/ and /v/ boards.
Same thing happened to me on Firefox.
You probrbly clicked "save this password on operatorchan.org" at the same time you submitted a video. Now the browser thinks that video link is your username.
Whats with the constant locking of threads? Its not like /n/ is moving so fast we have to police what gets posted so we can actually see relevant stories.
Who cares if it is international or local news, we are a slow moving chan with few posters, /n/ could use all the new content it can get.
As of now /n/ is nothing more than a constant essay post war between Clio, ST, waffless, Doomguy, and KSM, that shit is old and stale, lets have some local stories for those of us that don't want to read thousand word posts of clio and ST passive aggressively sucking one another's dicks.
Its Thursday and there is still a thread thats last post was from Monday on the front page, stop locking threads damn you.
>I don't mind being called a nigger or a faggot
That's because you're both, some of us aren't though and would rather not be called that.
>Do you know what a chan is?
>An imageboard or image board is a type of Internet forum which operates mostly via posting images.
Internet = on the internet. Forum = place where you discuss things. Discussing things = talking about them at length in a civil manner. Internet forum = place on the internet where you discuss things. Do you need a flowchart or is this getting through to you?
Posts by random operators, Chairsoft, KSM, Sneaky, Bat Guano, Ulfhunden, Clio, ST, Swissguy, CC, waffle ss, AKR, armor, doomguy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> your retarded posts. Even Jotunn and native-american-broseph (z something?) has you beat and that's sad.
Is this why you're so butthurt? Because everyone else puts thought and effort into contributing and you have to strain your braincells to compete?
Step up or go back to shitchan.
Why did you throw a bunch of names of horrible posters in there with actually good posters like BG and anonymous posters? Like, a LOT of the names you posted are of known shitposters.
>like anonymous posters
>anonymous posters with IDs that change all the time
What is wrong with being anonymous?
I'm pretty sure he's commenting on the stupidity of calling anons "good posters." It's about as wise as saying every operator is a shitposter. You're anon, the whole damn point is that nobody can be sure if you're a dog or not.
I've been to other pages with similar layouts to this chan (anonib comes to mind) and they have a 'like' option for each individual post. It's a neat system that doesn't appear to get abused at all(the same way a 'dislike' feature would be abused to bury dissent or be used as a joke).
Any chance of opchan implementing something like this? It's a good way to the most relevant posts without people have to post things like 'this' or '+1' or reiterate the same thing
>Also, certainly no spammer or troll would try to take advantage of this and using multiple IPs. Nope. Not at all. Also, this idea would certainly would make /n/ a more stable place of discussion. Mmmmmmyep. /sarcasm
Accomplishing what, I must ask?
What do trolls do? Derail conversations.
What do spammers do? Derail conversations.
"LIKE" inflating is just one way of doing this. Same as using a shitton of IPs to agree with yourself and create a hostile environment or derail a conversation. The only difference is that it's in numerical form.
The only way a liked/dis-liked feature to work, is to have each post reviewed by mod(s) and be determined if its worthy to be liked/dis-liked.
>>2121 and is relevant to the thread in discussion.
eh... we have opinions just like everyone else.
people would just bitch that we were allowing upvotes for shit we liked, I don't see it working well.
