Ok I'm being a bit overly dramatic here, but for the first time since moving to VA (and now currently looking at the prospect of staying in VA for the next 5 or so years; my wife got her dream job at a newspaper and I want to help her cultivate her career like she has helped me) I am actually worried about my 2a and frankly 1a rights (maybe I am just constantly hearing the furthest left craziness related to 1a stuff as I am on a college campus 50% of my waking hours). NPR didn't allieviate my fears this morning. I forsee a lot of frankly asinine bills being pushed through in the name of "common sense" and "social justice".

I guess I need to start buying standard capacity magazines and 80% recievers before all of the fun stuff gets banned/restricted...

On the other side of things I think a full Republican rule wouldn't be much better. Single party rule is never a good thing.

Yep, shit sucks. Every political cycle whoever is in office fucks it up so bad the other side wins the next time.

I'm dealing with California bullshit now. Most of my rifles are disassembled until I can make them "featureless" and gasoline is 2 bux a gallon more than the east coast.

GOP fucked this one up. 27 uncontested districts. Even worse, was one of them was a known pedophile. Should have been an easy win, but noooo.

Eyeballying storage in WV just in case.

I moved to VA not too long ago. Similar deal to OP. Wife got into grad school in the area and fortunately I found it relatively easy to find comparable work. Similar exposure to the college campus and well-to-do environment too but I'm keen to remember that it's a large state and it's major metropolitan areas that typically lean left are few. I don't advocate for either mainstream political party because bipartisanship is a false dichotomy only subscribed to by non-thinkers. I think the Republican-leaning constituents were lulled into a false sense of security by who occupies the White House and the party responsible for preventing that laziness failed to do so.

I've already started looking at investing in more magazines since that always seems to be a "feature" the gun control movement likes to target. I may look to increase my ammunition stock too since there's so much talk of limiting those purchases or making them restricted to FFLs. I may look to invest in more stripped (or 80%) AR lowers to make builds easier in the future without breaking the bank now, but that also assumes uppers don't become controlled. That said, I think I have my bases for AR uppers covered for any possible barrel length and popular caliber but investing in more is a relatively simple way of flexing more capability out of one gun that doesn't show up on "gun purchase" statistics.
