Amazon fucked up today and listed the deluxe edition of the game for $10 and I was able to get it before they fixed it. Any tips for somebody who's never played Battletech/Mechwarrior stuff before?

Concentrate fire.
Flamers are really OP.
Getting special abilities like Bulwark for your mechwarriors are practically mandatory.
LRMs cause a disproportionate number of head hits, unless you edit the game's .json files.
Don't underestimate vehicles. Some like the Shreck, Demolisher, SRM Carrier, and LRM Carrier can really fuck you up.
Expect to be outnumbered on many missions, unfairly so (supposedly changed on the newest patch though).

Otherwise the game kind of has the same problem as Farcry 5 where the contrast is too high. Everything is either blindingly bright or dark as fuck.

I have a few hours into it. It's basically PUBG meets STALKER(-ish). The player base is low and probably won't grow much due to negative reviews and the $20 initial price tag. If it cost less, or had more people playing I'd recommend it. But unless it grows or the price comes down, stick with PUBG. there aren't too many bugs, I've only had it crash on the menu a few times but no in game crashes at all. I absolutely love STALKER so I'll keep playing this for a few weeks and see where it goes.

In other news, Multiple MGs in an Echelon make short work of S.F. T-Dolls, despite the Ammo consumption. They work best with Equipment Mods that lower their ROF, since their reload times are a set interval, so prolonging that inevitability is of great importance.

I think I've gotten a limited drop, maybe once.

Besides a measure of how much your waifus love you, affinity does have gameplay purposes. When it reaches 100, you can enter into an oath with the T-doll (you marry your android war slave and no doubt subject her to sexual slavery, you fucking degenerate). When you have an oath with a T-doll, the maximum affinity is raised to 150 and they receive a boost to certain stats. I only recently oathed my PTRD so I'm not sure if the boost increases as you go higher from 100 to 150. At the moment it seems pretty small.

Also, winning battles and tapping the little hearts or giving them presents in the dorm make your dolls affinity-ize your ass. Losing battles will NOT make them like you less. Affinity goes down when a member of the squad straight up fucking dies. If you have the option enabled, squad members will run away once they get down to 5 or 10% health or whatever. That's fine. If you enter battle with that squad again, however, you need to stay on your shit to make sure you withdraw squad members before they get killed. Whenever your dolls lose affection, they lose a lot. The girl who gets killed gets -10, everybody else in the squad gets -5. So it's worth it to make sure your girls don't die.

You can spend them in the "Friendship Store" located under the "Friend" tab. You can buy different backgrounds for the main screen, and profile icons for your player ID card.

I'm hyped for it, though somewhat worried my crappy 750 Ti won't run it since it had trouble with Doom 2k16, but as I recall Machinegames did a great job optimizing TNO so I'm still optimistic.

Yeah, technical issues apparently because of course Bethesda skimps on QC. Though IIRC TNO didn't sell that hot on release either and was more of a slow burn.

Friend got it on PS4 and says it plays fine on it and is fun though.

  I played it for a while early on, but the netcode is utter & total bullshit. Since it's an "all or nothing" game, I find that utterly unacceptable. I regret buying it.

I was hitting it pretty hard a few months ago. A couple major updates ago they fucked the servers and netcode and I've put it down for now until they get it unfucked. Last major update also turned hitboxes and scav AI into utter shit, so...more stuff to wait on getting fixed before I pick it up again.

Got bored of playing solo a while ago, but still have a lot of fun with duo and squad. Getting excited for the new map as I've landed just about everywhere on the current one.

Love the randomness of the loot, seems games where we find jack shit we survive the longest and have the most fun.

Same! Had a GREAT fuckin squad firefight on the east bridge. Got set up to camp it with only a mag or two each for our rifles thinking we'd resupply off the dead. Well, somehow we ended up pinched between two squads who dismounted to fight and maneuver on us rather than trying to power through the ambush as most do. Ended up being a long drawn out fight as we conserved ammo and tried to push off one end of the bridge without getting rolled by the guys behind us.

We were dead as fuck by the end, but we held out a good 10 minutes or so. Was so low on ammo I was using my Glock on people that were getting too close for comfort. Even downed a couple that way. We all agreed it was the best gunfight we'd had in pubg in a long time, if not ever.

Same here. If we find a mother lode of loot and no resistance in the early game we're sure to get ambushed and slaughtered or pushed into bad zone position and killed between other squads. When we just have a decent gun, enough ammo for a couple reloads, and a handful of medicals, we're hitting top 10 or sometimes the dinner.

Same goes for my solo games, just won a duo round when my random teammate got killed right after drop at school apartments. Took out those guys and played a slow methodical game. Stalking duos and ambushing at the opportune moments when they were loading in cars and distracted with fire fights. Had a 9 kill win game alone. If they'd just fix the bugs this would be my personal 10/10 game. Its ARMA battle royale style.
