The Moist Nuggets were fine for early endgame in the beta. But everything after that they get greatly overshadowed by other guns. Even the SCAR-H was seriously outclassed due to its slow rate of fire. Sure, it had nice headshot crits, but it's low capacity and slow, making it shit at most PVP.

>I know they exist, my post was to mean they dont feel particularly useful, especially in the dark zone. Most fights with NPCs or otherwise are at standoff distances, where the shotguns are pretty crap as far as damage goes.
Semi-auto magfed shotties are useful and great damage dealers up close & personal. They're totally useless outside of 10 meters of so though.
They are useful when:
1) You're soloing NPCs (be it the sports store or doing the garage extraction solo for example), if the enemy closes in on you, you have to mag dump your rifle to get them down quick enough. On the other hand, a few shots of the saiga 12 in their fucking face up close & they're down for the count. Especially rushers are staggered when shot in the face, buying you precious time. Remember the huge armored cleaner with the bigass flamethrower in the north east of the DZ? Soften him up with one mag of your AR15 and drop him on his ass with your saiga without retreating.
2) You're in an alley fighting another player, he goes to reload his primary, you switch your AR15 to your Saiga 12 and strafe past his cover, you magdump into his head at point blank, no way he survives. There's a lot of PVP encounters that end up being up close & personal. For example the subway or that one rogue camping spot with the ladder right next to the checkpoint. And that's where a Saiga 12 really hurts. Come close? Get put the fuck down.
Of course, your spec needs to be up to snuff. A good quality Saiga 12, with a quickfeed mag and an optic that extends optimal range is usually the easiest way to get started off.
By the end of the beta, I did well over 6500 DPS with my Liberator AR15. But my secondary was a much "weaker" DPS Saiga 12, but it left the Liberator in the dust in close encounters. It used a lot less ammo (per mag) to bring down NPCs and totally butchered players up close.
