Not as far fetched as it seems.

Also yes, accuracy is a big deal, at least with my choices of weapons.

My cqb is a police m4 (its bright orange, big mag, eotech etc (you can even see the sight in the optic). My long range is a SCAR-H with one of those canadian 3.4x optics. Also suppressed.

I did have a bit in the darkzone earlier where like 8 dudes were fighting over an extract. I popped 2-3 heads with the scar H from way off and booked it. Lol.

Also, you can shoot pressurized tanks on peoples backs (flamethrower guys) to make them explode. Ive also shot grenades out of guys hands/off their belts and seen em boom.

Did my first trip into the dark zone. It's a bit weird, I was in a team & we crossed some guys with red & skull on them. So we shot them & suddenly we were rogue? I interpreted it as shooting at rogues, which I had done before and doesn't mark you, but suddenly our entire team was rogue?

Controls feel very console-y and there's a lot bullethosing going on, but other than that feels decent. I look forward to the release.

>Also the game defaults to medium graphics settings, just be warned.

My PC is getting old, so i'm doing about 30-60 fps ingame atm, with medium+ settings.
I intend to buy a new comp this year, but when will depend on actual need, since atm it still played all games pretty damn nicely on fairly high quality settings (until The Division that is). I suspect the game is still getting performance tweaks too, so might not even be necessary to upgrade.

Yeah my pc as a tad old too, I was just going through the options to see what was up and found it on medium. Did the "huh, looked decent on medium" thing.

As far as the roguing, One of your party might have accidentally shot/killed a player who wasnt red skulled. Because Ive killed quite a lot of red skulls and havent gone rogue because of it.

Chicks dig SCARs. And so do I. Current setup is a SCAR-L primary and SCAR-H marksman for my secondary. Currently 8/12 on my level/DZ rank and about to get back into it for more.

The interface is a little awkward at times. The grenade/buff wheel needs fine tuning, and I'm tired of searching a pack or drawer and having an item dump out on the ground and it not telling me "Water full" or "Energy bar full" or whatever. Also, when coming across crates/boxes/chests in the DZ that require a key or specific DZ rank, I'd just like a little context window to pop up over it when I get into interface rank and have it say "Dark Zone rank 1305815081 required" or whatever. Having absolutely nothing (except the occasional hint popup) happen in that situation FEELS glitchy, even if it is working as intended.

Also, it's hilarious when you're fighting a rogue and you throw a grenade to flush him out of cover, and two non hostiles run in at the last minute to try and gank him.

1. of the same caliber deal the same amount of damage?
2. have selectable firemodes?
3. have correct Magazine/Belt sizes?

>>57334
>1. of the same caliber deal the same amount of damage?
Its an RPG so no. A level 6 m4 will do more damage than a level 3 m4 for instance.

>2. have selectable firemodes?
From what few guns I used (M4, ak, scar H, m249, shotgun) no.

>3. have correct Magazine/Belt sizes?
This is an RPG, so some weapon modifications increase magazine/belt size. Other than that, yes.
>> No. 57336 ID: 01b665
Over the entire beta I only got into a good death squad once. We where marching around the DZ killing dudes for hours.

Ever since I get into games with faggots that only care about gear in a fucking beta where its gonna get deleted anyways. Or they don't wanna stick together.

FUCK
>> No. 57337 ID: bbadd8
>>57334
>1. of the same caliber deal the same amount of damage?

No. It depends on level, quality & luck.

>2. have selectable firemodes?

You could say that there are 4 fire modes:
1) Blind fire from cover.
2) Hipfire (without aiming) while standing or moving.
3) Aimed fire (irons)
4) Aimed fire optics (if any)

As far as I can tell, that's it.

>3. have correct Magazine/Belt sizes?

No. The game doesn't reflect real mag sizes. Most of the time it's close (M249 with 100 round belt, M4 with 30 round mag, FAL with 20 round mag). These "base" stats can be modified with items. Will sometimes give like +25% capacity. And the 30 round mag suddenly looks like a 60 round surefire while only holding 37 rounds.
You also get stuff like the M1A/M14 which looks like it has a 20 rounder in it, but only actually has 10 rounds per mag unmodded.

By far the thing that annoys me most is the fact everything is a huge bullet sponge. There's fairly little finesse. I prefer a (few) headshot(s) & you're down. I understand that's not easy to balance in a cover based shooter, but I suspect it'll be the reason why I'll stop playing the game after a while.
That and the console-y setup of everything.
>> No. 57338 ID: 82a3e8
>>57337
I was pleasantly surprised by how not bad the bullet spongey part was. I was expecting 3-4 mags to kill every dude.

I got into a fight over some DZ gear with other agents and killed 3 with about 11-14 shots total with my M1A (blue qual). It took about 2-3 headshots per target to kill them, so not much compared to say.... Borderlands etc.

And what really sucks about that is Colonial Marines had the makings of being a great game. Even the finished product is okay but with a bit more work it could have been a truly excellent game. And we need a good Colonial Marines game, a game just blasting xenos. A game with the same care and love given to it that Alien Isolation had. That game isn't my cup of teat (I hate stealth games) and from what I've seen the "alien is invincible" is taken to stupid heights but you can tell the game had people working on it who actually loved what they were doing, loved the franchise they were working with.

Gearbox you can tell didn't give a damn about ACM. They just wanted a game they could use to get bottlecaps from, both from the publishers and poor suckers buying it. They already had the money either way, didn't matter if they made a broken ass game that looked pretty ugly, they already got that sweet sweet Sonic money and they knew people were going to buy the game just because of the name.

But with a little effort they could have made a decent game, some more effort a truly excellent game.

But noooooooooo the fuckers had to use the money and resources on some piece of shit cell shaded garbage that is for hipsters and fat people.

That´s why i wrote "Because consoles".
Ubisoft announced over 1 year ago that they will tune down the graphics, so console players aren´t disadvantaged because of weaker hardware.
Same shit like they did with Watch Dogs.

And since i was hoping that the firearms in this game would be a bit authentic, but they aren´t, as confirmed in this thread, i´ll give it a pass.
I´m fine with that you have to hit an enemy a few times before he goes down, but 10rds in a 20rds modeled mag, level based dmg, no selectable firemodes, i´m tired of this. (no i wasn´t expecting a Arma/Insurgency MMO)

I dunno bro, from your issues with the division I think thats exactly what you are looking for.

RPGs inherently take a bit for things/people to die. I understand that people dont like that, but if its an MMO or an RPG, its gonna be that way.

Until one of you lazy shits becomes independently wealthy, makes a game company, and then proceeds to create a arma/insurgency mmo.

Also I wish all the cool kids left consoles and played PC, so games would stop being limited by "well we gotta sell it to consoles too, so make it look shitty plox"

Personally, I'd have preferred a CounterStrike meets SpecOps The Line style game set in The Division world. That'd be tits.
From the beta I've played, it greatly lacks finesse. I like my headshots to count for something.

>>57355
The issue with mmorpgs and being super frail like that (like irl) is that what is the point of playing it for 400+ hours to get the best gear at the top level if a level 1 dude with a slingshot can kill you with one head shot. I mean the answer is "thats realistic". Sure. But realism does not always equal fun.

>I like my headshots to count for something.
My M1A headshots were like 2.5x more than my base damage, which was to say, A LOT.

The two camps ive seen about the division basically boil down to
A) I like it, its a decent RPG and I like the gun play and the world
B) I wish it was DAYZ set in this world.

This game is already full of respawns which are quicker than CounterStrike's, Sneaky. Not to mention that higher level gear could give you better resistance to a wide variety of damage types.

And at least it would make things like sniping worthwhile. In the DZ during beta, you'd need to coordinate with several people to have a chance at killing someone by sniping (unless he was simultaneously being ganked) due to headshots with sniper rifles doing shit damage. They would just run off while shrugging off multiple hits.

It just feels so horrendously wrong. In Borderlands you can say it's bulletspongy because there's shields, futuristic armor, mutants, etc. In this game, you have hoodrats in a sweater soaking up a full mag to the head and still continue to approach you. With a blue M&P9, a single shot to the head at point blank range would do 130 dmg. Out of over 3000HP or something with gear of equal level. You could dump the entire mag into his head at point blank & he still wouldn't be anywhere close to dead (even without using medkits or heal feats).

That's just FUBAR, not to mention horrendously lazy design to try and balance a game that way. And certainly unworthy of the Tom Clancy name (not that that means much). Totally not what I had expected from previous vids etc.

PS: People should stop using "it's an MMO" or "it's an RPG" as an excuse for this btw. There's plenty of games of both types which are utterly ruthless when it comes to damage dealing and player deaths.

Those are both not MMOs, or even close to multiplayer. Id agree they are brutal (and others are as well).

But brutal "realistic" mmorpgs are few and far between. Mortal is a decent example in that when you die your shit gets looted. However its not instadeath from an attack unless you just started and are fighting a high level guy.

Theres really no MMORPG games that come close to what you are looking for.

Dont get me wrong, Id love an mmorpg that was how you describe.

>Those are both not MMOs, or even close to multiplayer.

I said MMO or RPG. Not MMORPG. :)
I don't actually find The Division worth of being called an RPG so far, but that's a different discussion, I guess.

I guess you could look at death in games like Day-Z. It's kinda pormadeath, but still doesn't require you to dump several mags into people for it to happen.
What I propose is far far far less harsh.

>Theres really no MMORPG games that come close to what you are looking for.
>Dont get me wrong, Id love an mmorpg that was how you describe.

That's the point. I was hoping that The Division would be just that.

Also, I'm not talking about one shot kills even. Slightly less damage than most counterstrike weapons + abilities would still give you some chance of survival.

On the xboxone there is a setting in Settings that allows you to turn up the sharpness from default 50% which looks dull to 100% which makes everything alot crisper and if you turn up your tv sharpness by 5% it's like super high res textures, looks better than E3.

I had a lot of fun and I am buying this game for sure on the xbone. I had a 4 person squad and we owned the DZ. No one could touch us, we were going head to head against 2 groups of 4 and we still kicked ass. I made about 10k DZ coins in like an hour.

After playing the open beta the Division is a definite not buy for me at this time, as time goes on, mechanics are fixed, brooklyn and such are added and the game is cheaper, that might change, but from what I'm seeing now it leaves alot to be desired
I bought into the hype and bought seige for $40 bucks on sale, it's a solid game, but I'm a little dissappointed with just 5vs5 no respawn, as good as it can be it's heavily dependent on teamwork to have fun, more so than even a game like Squad/PR and it clearly wasn't worth it's MSRP of $60.

I'm holding out with guarded caution with what Ubi can do with the open world Ghost Recon, esp. if such a thing turns out to be mod friendly.

What I find hilarious that morality is entirely absent from the game. You'd think it's pretty crucial to the setting, but you're allowed to shoot anyone carrying a gun, as long as he's not JTF or Division.
I mean, fine with looting punks or people taking hostages, but why the hell is it fine to cap the ass of some random people standing around while carrying guns?

Haven't seen a worthwhile sniper rifle yet.

Full auto rifles and semi-auto shotguns seem to be the way to go.

Easiest way to rattle noobs is shooting out tires with a suppressed gun as they walk past.
It's a hoot.

The snow & xmas theme is kinda neat.
And since I like post-apoc shit a lot, the aesthetic is really convincing.

This past weekend whilst playing the beta with a friend he picked up a mosin nagant sniper that was absolutely demolishing everything he pointed it at.

What I hadnt noticed last beta that I noticed this time is when it gets all overcast and snowy your character model will have snow on his head and shoulders and stuff. Which is pretty nifty.

I know they exist, my post was to mean they dont feel particularly useful, especially in the dark zone. Most fights with NPCs or otherwise are at standoff distances, where the shotguns are pretty crap as far as damage goes.

The Moist Nuggets were fine for early endgame in the beta. But everything after that they get greatly overshadowed by other guns. Even the SCAR-H was seriously outclassed due to its slow rate of fire. Sure, it had nice headshot crits, but it's low capacity and slow, making it shit at most PVP.

>I know they exist, my post was to mean they dont feel particularly useful, especially in the dark zone. Most fights with NPCs or otherwise are at standoff distances, where the shotguns are pretty crap as far as damage goes.

Semi-auto magfed shotties are useful and great damage dealers up close & personal. They're totally useless outside of 10 meters of so though.
They are useful when:
1) You're soloing NPCs (be it the sports store or doing the garage extraction solo for example), if the enemy closes in on you, you have to mag dump your rifle to get them down quick enough. On the other hand, a few shots of the saiga 12 in their fucking face up close & they're down for the count. Especially rushers are staggered when shot in the face, buying you precious time. Remember the huge armored cleaner with the bigass flamethrower in the north east of the DZ? Soften him up with one mag of your AR15 and drop him on his ass with your saiga without retreating.
2) You're in an alley fighting another player, he goes to reload his primary, you switch your AR15 to your Saiga 12 and strafe past his cover, you magdump into his head at point blank, no way he survives. There's a lot of PVP encounters that end up being up close & personal. For example the subway or that one rogue camping spot with the ladder right next to the checkpoint. And that's where a Saiga 12 really hurts. Come close? Get put the fuck down.

Of course, your spec needs to be up to snuff. A good quality Saiga 12, with a quickfeed mag and an optic that extends optimal range is usually the easiest way to get started off.
By the end of the beta, I did well over 6500 DPS with my Liberator AR15. But my secondary was a much "weaker" DPS Saiga 12, but it left the Liberator in the dust in close encounters. It used a lot less ammo (per mag) to bring down NPCs and totally butchered players up close.

>Shield ability helps with that.

I've literally seen two guys use the shield in endgame DZ in the open beta. It was somewhat popular in the closed beta, but with the new talents/skills that became available the heal+stickybomb were the way to go for PVP.

Only idiots used the sentry (since it's so easy to exploit and lead to you being tagged rogue) and only a few rare guys used the shield.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when the game gets released.

PS: It was absolutely tarded that the game had unconverted Saiga 12s. I hope they add some properly converted ones too.
>> No. 57507 ID: 82a3e8
>>57505
I would bet almost no one used the shield because in the last beta we didnt have access to the little turret so everyone was wanting to try that.

I had a friend with me the entire time in this past beta. He was heal specced and I was shield + smg + shotgun. I basically would work my way up into their faces, dump with pistols while my friend flanked, or id swap to my shotty (was a pump at the time) and obliterate things when I got close, when I ran out id swap to my smg and just mag dump into their face.

It was really rare for my friend and I to get killed in dmz, I got downed a lot, but he would usually rescue me in time.

Im most likely getting the game after I pay off the loan I got from CC.

Well, if the servers are seems to be stable after the first week and they fix most of the exploits (turret fix should be trivial, "out of map" red zone should be trivial) then I will buy.

I sorta liked the fact the Saiga's were unconverted. It adds to the whole "post apocalyptic New York" vibe the games got going.

The Division agents are totaly fucking alone and they need to scavenge for everything they need.

Preload has started for those of you with slow connections. 30.5GB download, 34+GB install.

PC (release) will be available worldwide on March 8 at 6 am CET / 12 am EST / March 7, 9 pm PST.

As far as newly announced content goes, the only good thing I heard in that vid was "loot trading". All the rest appears rather gimmicky.

The turret has been patched for release, hits on neutral players will deal no damage and they will not respond to neutral players' fire. It should be a little better that way.

I'm Romanov471 on both Uplay and Steam for anyone that wants to add me. I'll be on for the release tonight.

Something tells me those people did that for lols. Because even when ive entered packed safe houses like that ive walked right up, talked to the npc and left.

At the underground safehouse at Hudson(?), you're forced to use a computer (as well as the NPC) and that computer needs to be used from the front. You couldn't do it with people blocking it. So I did indeed have to wait for one guy to clear out before I could use it.

So I guess there's not completely lying.

I just think I might be the luckiest person in The Division. Ive never had someone stand in a door way to troll people from leaving, ive never had to wait to use a pc or npc, etc.

Also I crafted a bomb ass FAL last night. SLOTTIN FLOPPIES GOOD TO GO!

How you like the FAL with Burst fire?
>> No. 57587 ID: 82a3e8
>>57586
Im ok with it. Aim about just below throat pull trigger at least 2 head shots. Its basically the opposite of the m4. The M4 is like short/mid to mid range full auto. The FAL is like mid to mod/long. and 3 round. So its not wonderful close range, but longer range its loads better than the m4 (Im using the same mods on it as I did the m4 so its not a mod thing)

Its a place holder until I get myself a legit marksman rifle (like a scar-h, etc).

I still <3 my pump shotgun, holy fuck does it munch through people close range.
>> No. 57589 ID: 9dd3be
>>57587
I have to get used to the Burst, but yes, as you say, it´s a fine long range rifle.
Currently i´m running a M60, completely upgraded with Stability mods, things like a Railgun.

Already tried the Sawed-off? If not, you WILL love it!
>> No. 57590 ID: 82a3e8
>>57589
No sawed off yet, just the double barrel which was loads of fun.

Ive since swapped my FAL for a SCAR-L. Because the scar L had better damage all around and holy shit, like you say its a rail gun. Full auto at some distance and every round hits. Just cleave my way through dark zones pretty quick.

I like that they added NPC to extractions from time to time. Died a few times because I was braced for players and got a wave of purps or yellows. Sucked. Lol.

One time I saved a dude at an extract from npcs. The extract showed up and we went to extract our gear and he killed me. So I respawned and hunted him down and he was already not a rogue (about 30 seconds).

Killed his ass anyway.

Since the last patch, I'm having some audio glitches with certain transmissions etc not playing. Annoying.

>>57589
>Already tried the Sawed-off? If not, you WILL love it!

Well, most "lug shit around" missions can be finished with nothing but headshotting fuckers with your pistol without dropping your load along the way. With the sawed-off you can't.

But it's a great last ditch weapon against rushing idiots in normal circumstances.

I'm using a SCAR-L with muzzle brake. The horizontal control shit is amazing if you like spraying shit down. I'm sad I haven't come across a SAW or something with decent damage to use it on.

Euhm, that was in the beta too?

Got a purple police M4 now. Does a metric fuck ton of damage.

Also yes, the sawed off shotguns are great. I had no idea they went in the pistol slot.

For those of you "taking it slow", you just got fucked in the ass by Ubisoft.
They lowered all kinds of rewards and compared to those who rushed through the game on release you'll have a much harder time building up gear in the endgame.
