The Tyranny RPG game releases in a few hours.

You get to play a judge/jury/executioner "Fatebinder" working for a brutal warlord. You can be horrendously evil, or try to minimize damage as a goody two shoes.

Seems interesting.

Played a little today, by the same people and feels pretty similar to Pillars of Eternity.

The first part of the game is a story overview of your character and the campaign to capture the last remaining bastions of free people. It gives you different options on what to do, and conflicts to resolve which will effect your relationships with other characters/factions later on in the game.

I like this a lot better than Pillars Of Eternity so far.
I only played through PoE once but I think I'll play through Tyranny a few times at least.

I find it weird that a game that's marketed as being "mature" and "dealing with mature content" talks about rape a lot, but never allows the player character to partake in it?

A lot of people are also bothered by how many women warriors & leaders there are and are blaming SJW. :)

Finished my first playthrough in 27 hours. Following the Disfavored questline because at first glance it was the most "orderly" thing to do.
I never got to visit the burning library (I did set it ablaze during conquest, but I had hoped to visit it later). Maybe I missed something like having to fire off a counter Edict to be able to visit the place? Or maybe it's just due to my Conquest choices.

I got Tunon and Ashe to bend the knee to me. Had to kill the Archon of Shadows sadly...
Killed Nerrat (or well, is he really dead?).
Was disappointed that I had to level an Edict against Kyros' capital. I kinda figured I'd just put an Edict on the borderlands to keep Kyros' troops at bay?

I wonder, if you go for the independent path, are you spared from having to pick a side initially (for taking the first Spire under Kyros' Edict of mutually assured destruction)? Or can you only go independent afterwards?

IIRC in this game world women are the ones who can own land, and men are the ones who can own ships/the sea.

As such owning land will lead to having power. Having power means being in positions of power. Hence, tons of women in power in the game.

As for the rest, im not too far into it. I barely have the will to play it after I get done spending 10 hours dealing with complete retards at work. Also old people.

In the north, ruled by Kyros the Overlord, everyone is equal (except the Archons, which are more equal than others ;)). In the "barbaric south" (a tiny outcrop of land compared to Kyros' lands), women enherit the land ownership while men enherit the sea related property. This doesn't mean men can't be kings (here "Regent") or that women can't captain a ship.
It's a kinda matriarchal society mostly, but this is not true in all southern countries. Stalwart has male Regents who govern the land.

>Hence, tons of women in power in the game.

The main objection I hear is that women here are not exceptions in heavy combat roles. You'd expect women in magical, support, ranged (javelin & bow) or lance related roles mostly. Not shock troops in heavy armor. Nor would you expect a woman as the second in command for Graven Ashe.
The scarlet furies make sense, since they gracefully slaughter with dexterity, not necessarily brute force.

Much can be explained away, but there seems to be a disproportionate number of lesbians in the south and they do rub your nose in it sometimes. You get the feeling they genderswapped people at the end of development. There's even people who refer to themselves as male in conversation, but have female character models... Sloppy.

They also try to explain that female soldiers are "welcome" to get pregnant. Yeah... Being out of the fight for 6 months to a few years. I guess that's a great strategy to lose wars.
